Spotlight:
NYU Division of Vascular Surgery chosen to participate in two clinical trials
to treat thoracic aneurysm through minimally invasive approach.
Endovascular Treatment of Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms
A thoracic aortic aneurysm is a life-threatening condition caused by a
weakness in the wall of the major artery in the chest. The traditional operative
treatment would normally require a large incision in the chest, multiple
blood transfusions, a long ICU and hospital stay, and a high risk of complications.
NYU Medical Center , because of its expertise in treating this condition
has been selected for clinical trials using a new minimally invasive procedure.
We are one of only a few medical centers in the United States that were chosen
for participation in these two clinical trials.
The principal investigator is Dr. Neal Cayne. This new technology allows
us to treat these aneurysms via a small, minimally invasive incision in the
groin. If you have a thoracic aortic aneurysm or any questions regarding
the treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysms, please contact us.
