MEDICAL/NEUROLOGY/ENDOSOPY SERVICE

The Medical Service consists of several nursing units with a variety of defined patient care areas. These include Step Down Unit Beds, a Respiratory Progressive Care Unit, and general medical beds. Cardiac patients are situated on 15 West, the care of pulmonary patients is emphasized on 17 West, Neurology and general medical patients are placed on 17 East, and general medical patients are placed on 16 West. Additionally, there is a focus on the care of the geriatric patient. Nurses on these units provide direct patient care with a focus on patient and family education. They are actively involved in the expansion of their own knowledge and in the participation in the development and promulgation of standards. There is a multidisciplinary effort related to discharge planning.
