Am I a Candidate?
Each clinical trial has a set of guidelines called eligibility criteria that are used to determine the best candidates for the trial. Some clinical trials seek candidates that are afflicted with the illness or condition being studied, while others require healthy participants.
Researchers want to make sure that the volunteers are similar in key ways to make sure the results of the study are as accurate as possible. Examples of criteria include:
- Age
- Gender
- Previous Treatment History
- Type/Stage of Disease
- Other Medical Conditions
Only the research team of a study can determine eligibility.
